The "Thin Line" between Feminism and Pseudo-Feminism

Feminism (noun) - Feminism is the belief that women should have the same rights, power, and opportunities as men.

In the wake of the Delhi Gang Rape, I've seen a number of people who've pronounced themselves as "feminists". These so-called feminists have gone bonkers in the past few days and have started crusades against every possible aspect in our society. There anger against a certain Yo YO Honey Singh is completely legitimate but then they want to take things one step further by "abolishing" item songs. They want stronger laws. They are all-in for castration and capital punishments. In there extremely stupid attempt to empower women, they have forgotten the meaning of "Feminism". Feminism is the synonym of equality, it's not a term associated with "women's rights or feminine welfare".

Let's start of with the much talked about Delhi gang rape. That girl was raped weeks ago but ever since the unfortunate event all of us are raping her everyday. Politicians (As usual) have continued their rant about "morality" and all sorts of "traditional values" crap, the media is trying to cash in with celebrity talk shows and 24x7 news coverage about this heinous crime and we, the people, are busy in blaming our own government and "Men". There were all sorts of protests held at Jantar Mantar, genuine ones for the first two days, but then India witnessed the rise of "Pseudo-feminism."

People broke all barricades and broke into the Rashtrapati Bhawan because they thought that this was the easiest way to get "justice". What if one of the protesters was a terrorist in disguise? He/she could have used the situation to their advantage. I took the opportunity to interview a group of these "feminists". They had banners that read "WE WANT JUSTICE!". When I asked them what was the justice they were talking about, none of them could answer me. None! Why were they there? Because they felt that it was a moral obligation for them to go there and "protest".

"Protest" against the same government that we've chosen. Even after all these protests we'll see the same mob vote for Sheila Dikshit. If you're angry with the administration, don't vote for that political party in the elections.

Why do a select few swines rape? Do they want to have intercourse? NO! They want to make the victims life miserable. They want their victims to suffer. Some of these "feminists" went on to say that the Rapists deserve to be castrated because the victims life was worse than death. Was this sympathy? HELL NO! You are accepting Patriarchy when you say this. If a girl is raped, DO NOT say this. The victims must be helped in re-establishing their normal lives. This sort of sympathy would help the rapists succeed.

Let's talk about laws regarding Rapes. According to the Indian Penal Code(IPC), the testimony of the victim is enough to prove the convict guilty. The medical report of the victim is subsidiary. The minimum punishment for a person involved in a gang-rape is 10 years. Some knob-headed journalists have time and again claimed that our "laws" aren't strong enough. Is it so?

In a scenario when Castration or Death penalty has become legal, I will be afraid to have consensual sex with any girl. If the girl I had sex with starts claiming that I raped her, I'd lose by balls. Is this equality? I don't think so.

It's a common prejudice that "Tell Men not to rape!". Well, I am a Man. And I DON'T RAPE. Personally, I find it offensive. You are maligning Men by placing rapists in the same category. Rapists aren't Men. They don't deserve to be called Men. When you go on a rant against Men, you aren't talking about equality.

Feminism is not about the battle of the sexes. It's much more than that. Feminism is about equality, it's not about a group of women bitching about the atrocities they've faced in the hands of men. Even when you want to empower women, why do you want to ignore Men? Remember Men and Women enjoy equal rights and if special laws, that only cater to women, are made, it'll not be feminism. It'll be psuedo-feminism.
